Treatments we offer
Fairview Lakes offers three phases of cardiac rehabilitation services for recovering patients as well as exercise consultations and prescriptions for healthy patients who want to exercise at home.
-
Phase I Cardiac Rehabilitation is offered at Fairview Lakes Medical Center in Wyoming. A progressive exercise program that begins in the hospital, Phase I is designed to prevent the ill effects of bed rest and help prepare the patient to go home. It also consists of education regarding home exercise and risk factors.
-
Phase II Cardiac Rehabilitation is offered at Fairview Lakes Medical Center in Wyoming and at Fairview Rush City Clinic. Phase II cardiac conditioning begins two weeks after discharge. It is a flexible, individualized exercise program designed to improve cardiovascular fitness without exceeding safe limits of exercise. Patients participate several days a week for four to six weeks. Most cost is covered by insurance. Medicare requires a diagnosis of coronary artery bypass, heart attack (within one year) or stable angina.
-
Phase III Cardiac Rehabilitation is offered at Fairview Lakes Medical Center in Wyoming and at Fairview Chisago Lakes Clinic in Chisago City. Patients may start Phase III six weeks after a coronary event. Participants gather several times a week for supervised exercise with frequent blood pressure monitoring and may continue to attend for as long as they wish. Most insurance companies do not cover Phase III cardiac rehabilitation. Phase III rehabilitation is also appropriate for patients with hypertension, hyperlipidemia, a family history of coronary artery disease, obesity, sedentary lifestyles, diabetes, smoking and stress or depression.
-
Exercise consultation—With a doctor’s order, staff will develop a personal exercise prescription for healthy individuals to follow at home. Exercise consultation includes fitness and flexibility tests, body fat analysis, body mass index and waist-hip ratio.
