Our staff expertly delivers nearly 1,000 babies each year. While new procedures, techniques and services are always being created, one constant has been exceptional maternal and newborn care.

Laboring mothers enjoy private rooms where they can labor, give birth and recover before transferring to a pleasant, roomy and private post-partum room.

Compassionate care
Our staff is focused on providing family-centered care and experienced at helping families through the birthing process and beginning your life together. We help parents learn how to care for their new baby, whether it is the first or one of many. Each birth is precious, and we help to make sure this special time is something you will cherish forever.

In some circumstances, families need extra care. In those times, we offer:
· Access to University of Minnesota Children’s Hospital, Fairview’s Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
· Pregnancy and newborn loss support

During your stay
Services to enhance your birth experience. The Birthplace at Fairview Lakes Medical Center is proud to offer a variety of services to enhance your birth experience. Ask about our new aroma therapy and healing touch services, starting soon, and photos of your baby, available during your stay.

For expectant parents
Attend an “Evening at the Birthplace” Three times a year, join us at The Birthplace at Fairview Lakes Medical Center for a night of education and fun. Learn more about our mother and baby services and take a tour of The Birthplace. The Birthplace care team, along with additional health care professionals, will be available to answer your questions about labor, delivery, breast feeding, child safety seats and other topics. Schedule a tour
Parents participating in a birth and family education class will get a tour of the facility as part of their class. We also offer tours for those not attending the birth classes or an Evening at the Birthplace event. To schedule a tour, call 612-672-7272.

Take a class
Fairview hospital’s offer an extensive selection of birth and parenting classes to prepare you for the birth experience and your new parental role. Classes are also available for siblings.
